Ferry Road is an Interiors and Lifestyle Concept Store and Destination, incorporating the design studio of Rowan Plowden Design, as well as interiors, fashion and lifestyle goods from brands such as Scribble & Daub, Olivia Morris at Home, Verden, Daydress, Pearl Lowe, Made by Lottie Day, Liv Thurwell, Fenwick & Tilbrook and many more - all within a beautiful Grade-Two listed building in the beautiful ancient seaside town of Rye.
Ferry Road’s founding philosophies are quite simple: Elegant, beautifully curated design for everyday living. Sustainable craftsmanship paired with an impeccable and enjoyable customer experience where fashion, home and beauty are all celebrated all under one roof.
Co-Founded by Francesca Rowan-Plowden, Director and lead Interior Designer at Rowan Plowden Design Ltd, a practice working predominantly with historical stately homes and private residential properties and Amy Eastall, a private PA who has worked for The Royal Household and The White Company, now specialises in small, independent business start ups.
The petite historic town of Rye was a natural choice for Francesca, having previously been a custodian of its famous National Trust property Lamb House, once the home of novelist Henry James and later on E.F Benson, the writer of the internationally acclaimed Mapp & Lucia novels which still bring flocks of fans to the town year after year. Today, Rye continues to be home to a wealth of creatives including artists, actors, designers and antiques dealers.
Co-Founder Francesca Rowan-Plowden said of the new launch: ‘I have dreamt of owning a shop since I was a little girl, and with a family background in fashion, and running my own interior design studio for over decade, I wanted to create a space which incorporated these two passions. A little emporium of beautiful things, where customers can be inspired and feel a sense of escapism… a mini Liberty’s as it were, a candy shop for the eyes and a place to find the prettiest of things, be that a candle holder, a floaty floral dress or the perfect old armchair’.
Co-Founder Amy Eastall said of the new launch: ‘What our partnership has shown me is that we each bring something completely different to the table, but Ferry Road couldn’t work without each of these parts. We are two halves of the very chic whole that is Ferry Road Store!’
As well as stocking leading names in fashion, beauty and interior design the new store will host regular events throughout the year bringing the community together and providing customers with escapism as well as a chance to discover and interact with these brands through expert talks, tastings and workshops.
We are a short walk from Rye train station. The store is conveniently next to a car park, so should you wish to stock up and fill your boot - you can quite easily!
